We've donated 14,000 compression socks to Key Workers
With the current global pandemic affecting lives all over the world, we wanted to give back to nurses who are combating Covid-19 at the frontline and are facing some of the toughest weeks of their careers.
Earlier this year, we had local NHS nurses be our models for the day, promoting a giveaway of 150 pairs of Trtl Compression Socks to amazing nurses around the globe and testing out the benefits of compression socks for those who work long hours on their feet.
As a result we have donated a total 10,000 of our Trtl Compression Socks to acute nurses in hospitals across the UK and an additional 3,000 to medical teams in Seattle.
A study in 2015 found that nurses walk between 3 - 11 miles a day while on shift, and that can cause some pretty tired, aching legs. The Trtl Compression Socks help alleviate fatigue and discomfort felt while at work, and hopefully make these trying times a little easier.
With travel being put on hold for the foreseeable future and sales stalling, our CEO Michael Corrigan decided that our compression socks can be put to better use than sitting in a warehouse. “Over the past few days, I’ve been thinking about how we can contribute in what is the biggest crisis many of us will face in our lifetimes. When something like this happens it very rapidly puts things into perspective.
"Nurses across the world will be tested as never before in the coming weeks and if we can do something to help make the time they spend on their feet more comfortable, we must."
John Stuart, chief nurse at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, said: “We are under no illusions about what we are going to face in the weeks to come. Our nurses work incredibly hard and can spend hours and hours on the move during every shift.
“With these compression socks we can help our staff alleviate some of the discomfort and aches associated with being on your feet for long periods of time and help them better face the challenges that are coming our way with Covid-19. Any gesture like this can help boost morale and hopefully the colourful designs will help brighten the days of our nursing staff.”
We can all do our bit to help our NHS nurses by follownig the NHS guidelines for Covid-19 here and staying at home, social distancing and encouraging friends and family to do the same.
Thank you Key Workers! from all the team at Trtl
